This course will be a great way for your junior to explore the exciting world of mathematics and develop skills to help him/her become a math genius.
Your child will be equipped with essential skills such as multiplication, division, fraction, statistics, number sense, and much more through hands-on activities all in the context of problem solving.
Our students will participate in creative and engaging activities that will teach and reinforce the Standards for the coming year and will leave this class interested, excited, and energized about mathematics everyday.
Astro Science:
Beyond the Van Allen Radiation Belt:
The junior astronomers will embark on an engaging mission to investigate the planets of our solar system. The magnetic field plays a significant role in life on Earth. Does the magnetic field exist for other planets, or only Earth? What would be important for our survival? What will we find there? In addition, what would life look like on another planet?
Part of our mission will be to design a mission patch, investigate life forms, and create a real scenario for living on the moon. Our junior scientist will love this investigative science class.
Public Speaking & Debating:
Become a Confident Speaker:
While speaking in public is the proven #1 fear of most adults, it is widely recognized that a good set of communication skills is the primary ingredient to insure success, regardless of one’s occupation. Fortunately, most young children have not yet learned to fear communicating their thoughts and ideas in public settings. Therefore, childhood is the ideal time to teach children the basics of public speaking that will help in the formation of long-life, effective communication skills.
This exciting program will prepare children for the unavoidable oral presentation with a confidence that will accompany their academic careers. The Smart Minds Public Speaking program introduces the basics of public speaking in a fun, non-threatening way.
The students will learn:
- How to make any topic interesting to an audience.
- How to feel relaxed in front of an audience.
- How to use props effectively.
- How to construct a mini presentation without the burden of memorization or reading the material word for word.
