Mathematical Investigations
This course will involve captivating, hands-on investigations that will be an exceptional intellectual experience for your child.
The students will discover the shocking answer to how much money a hybrid car will save its owner because of reduced gasoline usage and watch as mathematics shows the futility of depending on corn-based ethanol to lower our dependence on oil imports. These and other fascinating math investigations show the students ability of mathematics to cut through deceptions.
The students will also strengthen their skills through provoking activities in multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, and much more. Your child is guaranteed to love this class.
Astro Science:
The Mission to Mars
Our hands-on mission will take us to Mars. We will explore land formations, research geological history, and search for evidence of the existence of hydrogen and carbon, the essential life producing elements. Was there ever water on Mars? As astrobiologists and astrogeologists, we will be looking at soil samples and determine if life ever existed on Mars.
We will be working with materials from the ASU Mars Center and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratories. We will also investigate the seasons and the polar ice caps on Mars to determine how closely related Mars is to Earth.
